WOODINGS BELL AND HOPPER A RINGING SUCCESS AT REP

(January 26, 2006)—Seeing is believing. And last year, when officials at Republic Engineered Products saw a Woodings bell and hopper in operation at the Severstal plant in Detroit, they were impressed. So much so, that they ordered a new large bell and lower hopper section for their operation.

The bell and hopper were installed in September, 2005. The installation required a combination of new construction for the 15’ 6” diameter bell and lower hopper while the upper hopper required reconditioning.

As was the case in the Severstal installation, Woodings collaborated with technology partner Franz Grabe of Bochum, Germany. Grabe is a leading provider of abrasion resistant, weld overlay product for the iron and steel industry. Woodings is the exclusive licensee for marketing Franz Grabe’s wear-resistant products in North America.

Republic’s new bell features harder materials and a specially ground seat surface that will result in better seating, and 20%-30% longer life.

Woodings President, Robert Woodings, stated, “Our extensive experience in the metals industry combined with partnerships with companies such as Franz Grabe allows us to offer our customers capabilities and solutions that simply aren’t available to them elsewhere.”
