MUNROE, INC. PURCHASED BY WOODINGS AFFILIATE

 

(May 20, 2009) — Munroe Holdings, a Woodings Industrial Corp. affiliate, has announced the purchase of Munroe, Incorporated. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, Munroe, Inc. is a leading manufacturer and supplier of fabricated components for boiler applications as well as BOF and EAF hoods and pressure vessels.

Munroe, Inc. produces stringently engineered modern equipment for demanding applications in the steel, power, paper, petrochemical and waste industries. Products include BOF and EAF hood components for the steel industry and boiler components such as super heaters, re-heaters, economizers, membrane wall panels and heat exchangers. Munroe supplies components to many OEMs and fabricates replacement and retro-fit components for end users.

Specialized capabilities include:

  • Engineering
  • In-house Inconel and stainless weld overlay to extend product life
  • Computerized submerged-arc welding
  • Tight radius tube bending

Munroe Inc. has over 300,000 square feet of fabrication space at three fully-equipped manufacturing facilities in Ambridge, PA, Youngstown, OH, and Ringgold, GA. The company is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA and also has a sales office at that location. Munroe Inc. has 200 employees.

With the addition of Munroe Inc. under the business umbrella, Woodings—and affiliated companies Progressive Power Technologies (PPT) and Advanced Refractory Technologies (ART)—offer a wide range of combined design, engineering, manufacturing, fabrication and service capabilities.

The companies combine over 300 years of complementary equipment manufacturing experience with extensive metals and power generation industry understanding, custom refractory application and complete construction/installation services.
