WOODINGS DOUBLE BLOCK AND BLEED VALVES HEADED TO SEVERSTAL NA

(MARS, PA)---Severstal North America, Inc. continues to make good on its commitment to upgrade and improve its Dearborn facility and is continuing to count on Woodings for much of the new equipment for that facility.

Woodings is supplying a large order of valves for use on the “C” blast furnace upgrade project as replacements for existing valves.

In total, Woodings will deliver five sets of double block and bleed valves to Severstal NA. Two sets are scheduled for November shipment; the remaining 3 sets will ship by the end of this year.  Severstal NA will put four of the sets into use and will keep one for a spare.
Designed and built by Woodings, the 3-lever valves are impressive in terms of size and construction; the valves are 42” and feature hydraulic operators and counter-weighted safety shut-off valves.
As with all Woodings lever valves, the equipment built for Severstal NA uses pressure vessel carbon steel for the valve bodies and discs. A stainless steel overlay is used for both the valve body seat and disc seat. A high temperature o-ring seal is used on the disc seat.
Woodings’ rugged design for valve linkages including stainless steel valve pins and hardened steel bushings will ensure Severstal NA long service life and superior performance.
